Guest post – This is a poem written by Dana (1.4.16) on a doctrine which has become very meaningful and precious to him (and through him, to me as well). He qualified his poem with the following in his title: some thoughts collected in a clumsy poem. I have unashamedly taken that out of his title because I do not think this poem clumsy at all, and since it is my blog…
Previously, Dana wrote an alliteration on Providence. I offer it first as an introduction, his poem following.
Providence – God, personally present in power, performing his predetermined plan for the perfection of his people and the praise of his glory.
On Providence
Preservation through pain
…..makes providence plain
In working through weakness
…..does providence reign
Providence grants perspective
…..to measure loss as gain
By providence’s grace
…..toward the finish I strain
These facts are all true
…..they guide my mind
But my heart cries a wonder
…..of a still deeper kind
That Christ’s infinite glory
…..and my desperate need
Met together at Calvary
…..where my sin made Him bleed
The Father who chose me
…..from before the foundation
Set all things in motion
…..by His unchanged declaration
Through the blood of Jesus
…..His Firstborn relation
God wiped out my sin
…..and transformed my station
His son now by covenant
…..by call and by blood
His will is now toward me
…..to work nothing but good
And on that great Day
…..His coming again
I’ll join all the redeemed
…..in the eternal refrain
